Giving Circles

I was listening to All Things Considered on NPR (5/14/09) and heard a story about who small groups of people are getting together and pooling their money (typically $75-200 each) and then donate it to a charity that they decide on (and screen) together. It seemed like a great way to make your donation have a greater impact and the people involved in these giving circles became much more active in their communities.
